What is the difference between bikinis and underwear?

Why is it acceptable to go around some places and post photos of yourself at normal sites in bikinis, no matter how revealing, but not OK with a bra/panty set? Often the only difference is the material and bikinis can be more daring than underwear. I don't get it. PS: I of course know it is not a good idea to post myself revealed to such extent, but some girls don't mind

1. because the more covered you are = the more inappropriate it becomes. OR Modesty=Inapprpriate :P Screwed up world LOL. It''s robably just the materail. bikinis are meant to be shown in public. and underwear are UNDER your clothes.

3. Bikinis are usually worn at the beach. People don't walk around a city in bikinis or go grocery shopping in them.
4. Context creates meaning. If you are in a swimsuit and in the appropriate setting then it's fine. I think a woman would look strange bowling in a bikini... wait, I take that back. Women look great in a bikini anywhere.
5. I think both are stupid decisions, in my opinion i think it makes people think less of you depending on the situation. If your posing with a bathingsuit on, i think its exactly the same as posing with your bra and underwear on. the only difference being someone can actually go out in public wearing a bikini to the beach. now all these teenagers are trying to act older by wearing thongs or lacy underwear, and most of the time you can tell the difference between a thong and a bikini.
6. I have wondered the same thing..When i asked them about it, they responded with something along the lines of "well...its just different okay?" No. it isn't all that different. Humans subconsciously (or quite consciously) judge their surroundings...ex. that girl has a short skirt, she is easy, that guy has a lisp, must be gay, or, that little kid is misbehaving, he must be spoiled. I have had people tell me to control my little brother when I was babysitting my best friends autistic little brother. Its natural, people are stupid, the combined efforts make for a idiotic society.

8. well...i wandered that too but.. underwear's material is much thinner and it becaomes see through when it gets wet...water lol. and umm i think when you wear bikinis it has a design or pattern that you can tell it is one.......haha that propbly didnt make since i cant really describe it but you know what i mean. hopefully
